‘Heart of Darkness’ was directed by Dean White. Writers were Andrew Chambliss and Ian B. Goldberg. In pre-curse FTL, Charming (Josh Dallas) and Red Riding Hood (Meghan Ory) have run out of luck. King George’s men have found their camp. Red becomes the wolf then attacks the Knights to allow Charming to escape.

The Seven Dwarves Grumpy (Lee Arenberg), Sleepy (Faustino Di Bauda), Sneezy (Gabe Khouth), Doc (David Paul Grove), Bashful (Mig Micario), Dopey (Jeffrey Kaiser) and Happy (Mike Coleman) stage an intervention for Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin). Jiminy Cricket (Raphael Sbarge) plays peace keeper.

Rumple’s potion altered her personality. The rage filled Snow, having left the Dwarves, decides to take out The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla). She learns her nemesis is on her way to the summer palace.

Grumpy stops Snow before she does the hit. He drags her to the Dark One (Robert Carlyle). Hoping he can undone the effects of his potion. No such luck. But Rumple helps in another way. A map, bow and enchanted arrow that always finds its target. Grumpy, realizing his beloved Snow is truly gone, returns home.

Charming, one step behind Snow, arrives at the Dark One’s Castle demanding answers. Rumple’s price is the Prince’s cloak. The mage reveals Snow’s intention and location. He warns that if Snow kills the Evil Queen she’ll take her place in the evil dept. Naturally, Charming doesn’t believe that statement. He learns the hard way true love’s kiss doesn’t work.

Charming takes an arrow meant for The EQ to prevent Snow from going to the darkside. His sacrifice touches Snow and they kiss. Now the magic works and she’s herself again. Just in time for Charming to be captured by Mad King George’s Knights. She vows to find him.

In Storybrooke, Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) is put into the system. Sheriff Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) tries to find something to prove she’s innocent. And finds more incriminating evidence instead. A desperate MM hires Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) as her lawyer.

A flashback of repressed memories convinces David Nolan (Josh Dallas) MM is guilty. She doesn’t want anything to do with him afterwards. Evidence is piling up against her. An unknown person left MM the key to her cell. She uses it to escape.

The good: The killer opening sequence! Psycho Snow! Jiminy Cricket doing a Doctor Phil. Presiding over the intervention held by Team 7. Which was funnier? Psycho Snow trying to kill the bluebird? The actual intervention? Snow trapping Jiminy Cricket under glass? Snow blowing off Charming? Tie for Best Moment is Rumple’s confrontation with Charming & Snow reuniting with Team 7.

The bad: Rumple’s potion to rid heartache induced a form of amnesia. Establishing true love’s kiss won’t work if half of the couple has amnesia. Rumple’s cryptic statement of being invested in Snow & Charming’s future. Another instance where the episode could’ve stayed entirely in Fairytale Land. It was the stronger segment of the two.

The ugly: Rumple manipulating Charming and Snow to bottle “True Love”. What’s his endgame?
