Hannibal’s ‘Roti’ was directed by Guillermo Navarro. Writers were Steve Lightfoot, Bryan Fuller and Scott Nimerfro.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) let Dr. Frederick Chilton (Raúl Esparza) think he was a friend. And let him know he’s all for unorthodox patient care. Having someone who understands makes it easier to admit the truth.

He used psychic driving and convinced Dr. Abel Gideon (Eddie Izzard) he was the Chesapeake Ripper. Chilton thought Gideon admitting he was would also bring him fame.

But Gideon unexpectedly murdered a nurse. The FBI got involved, questioned his treatment then disputed Gideon’s claim. Now Dr. Gideon is suing him. A review board hearing is sure to follow for Chilton. Regardless nothing is happening as he hoped.

The landscape of Will Graham’s (Hugh Dancy) nightmares has evolved. They consist of a montage of images taken from every case since returning to the field. He awakes after seeing himself and objects in his bedroom dissolve into puddles of water. Then the delusions occur when he’s conscious. But to others he seems distracted or day dreaming.

Dr. Chilton, there’s good news and bad news. Good news the court case has been cancelled. Bad news Dr. Gideon escaped. He killed his transportation detail and is heading back to Baltimore. Have a nice day.

Jimmy Price (Scott Thompson), Beverly Katz (Hettienne Park) and Brian Zeller (Aaron Abrams) are impressed by his calling card. The former surgeon removed multiple organs from his victims and hung them like ornaments on tree branches. Some blood vessels were bow tied. Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) just wants him caught soon as possible.

Will and Dr. Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) try to interview Chilton. He’s too busy deflecting blame to give them a straight answer. Gideon goes on a rampage exacting revenge on all the doctors who got inside his head. Alana is on the list of potential targets. The FBI gives her a protection detail until Gideon is either killed or captured. Jack refuses to lose another member of his team.

Gibeon decides to call out the real Chesapeake Ripper. He kidnaps everyone’s favorite stalkerazzi Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) and has her post about his latest kill.

The good: Raúl Esparza and Eddie Izzard are back to cause more mischief. Lara Jean Chorostecki made it a trifecta of trouble. Can we Gideon kidnap both and have all three arguing about why they should or shouldn’t be in that situation? When did you realize the guards were done for? When the attack happened or minutes before?

Favorite line is I may be crazy but you look ill. Was Ms. Gideon really so horrible? Or did he decide less paperwork? Dr. Gideon was so proud of his creative presentations. He especially enjoyed seeing Lounds’ reaction to the Colombian necktie. He considered the gift basket to be his best work.

The bad: Is it wrong not to feel sorry for Chilton? Didn’t think anything could make Lounds speechless.

The ugly: Gideon was more concerned about Will than Hannibal.
