Hannibal’s ‘Trou Normand’ was directed Guillermo Navarro. Writer was Steve Lightfoot.
Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), Jimmy Price (Scott Thompson), Dr. Beverly Katz (Hettienne Park) and Brian Zeller (Aaron Abrams) come across something they hope to never encounter again in their lifetimes. A serial killer has displayed his work as a totem pole of human bodies.
Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) is so disturbed that he loses time. One moment he’s at the crime scene getting inside the killer’s head and in the next he finds himself at Dr. Hannibal Lecters’ (Mads Mikkelsen) office. 3.5 hours have passed. What happened in between?
Abigail Hobbs’ (Kacey Rohl) survivor’s guilt continues to manifest as nightmares. The latest has her in group therapy with Dad’s victims. What was so wrong with her that he wanted her dead? They wished he had killed her so they would still be alive.
Nicholas Boyle’s (Mark Rendall) appearance shocks her out of the dreamscape. Garrett Jacob Hobbs (Vladimir Cubrt) wants to claim her and Will from beyond the grave.
Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) pays her a visit. She informs Miss Hobbs’ even though the family house has been sold. She won’t get a penny. The families filed a wrongful death lawsuit and will receive the money. Lounds then turns on the charm and pitches a book deal.
Abigail’s story has best seller written all over it. The lone survivor of the Minnesota Shrike speaks. What drove her father to kill? Everyone needs to know what happened. She can help Miss Hobbs tell her version of the truth.
Abigail agrees because she has no choice and still desires to be famous. Will and Hannibal try to talk her out of it. She’d be exposing them to a never ending media circus. Once she opens that door it can’t be closed. No matter what her decision both will continue to support her.
Later on something makes Jack determined to drag Abigail in for questioning. Nicholas Boyle’s body has surfaced. Being buried ice packed snow threw off decompose analysis. The FBI can’t exactly how long he’s been dead.
Graham tells the team the unsub’s totem pole is sort of a resume. It’s his lifetime achievement award. He doesn’t have an ounce of regret. He wants to be caught and celebrated for his four decades of public service.
The first victim Fletcher Marshall is related to the last. Joel Summers (Jason Blicker) was his son. Eleanor Marshall, the wife and mother, died long time ago in a car accident. A search of people of interest in her husband’s cold case leads to Lawrence Wells (Lance Henriksen).
The good: Lance Henriksen. Love his portrayals as the hero, anti-hero, sidekick and villain. He hasn’t lost the menace. Love Will’s crack about Freddie tossing the truth if it interferes with telling a good story. Did you see the bloopers? Raise your hand if you thinking what Hannibal said during the dinner scene.
The bad: Will figures out Abigail killed Nicholas Boyle.
The ugly: The human totem pole.
