Hannibal’s ‘Sorbet’ was directed by James Foley. Writers were Jesse Alexander and Bryan Fuller.

Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) is developing a profile on the Chesapeake Ripper. He’s incredibly patient and he can go months between sprees. His pattern so far is to kill three people, disappear then another batch of three.

The way he removes organs suggests someone with advanced knowledge of anatomy and surgical skills. Did the unexpected visit by FBI trainee Miriam Lass (Anna Chlumsky) hit too close for comfort? Scare him into being a good boy?

Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) indulges himself by attending opera. Featuring soprano Lenora (Emily Klassen) singing Handel’s aria Piangero la sorte mia from Giulio Cesare in Egitto.

Dr. Lecter’s patient Franklin Froideveaux (Dan Fogler) displays stalker tendencies. Somehow he learned his schedule and brought his friend Tobias Budge (Demore Barnes) along. Tobias is interested in the beautiful voice. Franklin can’t take his eyes of Hannibal.

A body found in a hotel room bathtub causes much debate among Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fishburne) team. Jimmy Price (Scott Thompson), Beverly Katz (Hettienne Park) and Brian Zeller (Aaron Abrams) aren’t sure if it’s the Chesapeake Ripper or an illegal organ harvester posing as a copycat.

Will is certain he’s the latter. Their elusive serial killer is much more theatrical in presentation. Being common is not in his vocabulary.

Hannibal has Dr. Bedelia Du Maurer (Gillian Anderson) as his psychotherapist. He unburdens to her often. All the recent plagiarism angers him. He decides to make himself known in spectacular fashion. He’s deprived his fan club of a dinner party for too long. This feast will be return to form. Only the freshest ingredients will do.

Surveillance footage provides a break in the case. Paramedic Devon Silvestri (Pierre Simpson) is their organ harvester.

The good: More Emily Klassen. Since Hannibal appreciates Lenora’s talent, it’s safe to say she’s off the menu. Love the compare and contrast between Mads Mikkelsen and Dan Fogler with Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson. Promises of great things from the new kid on Lecter’s block Demore Barnes.

Franklin, cannibal stalking is fatal. Lecter’s rolodex of range free rude. Picking the IT consultant for parmesan crumbled lambs brains dish was brilliant and funny.

Price, Katz & Zeller arguments are partially about them trying to reclaim Crawford’s love and affection. Daddy, I thought I was your favorite? Love the squabbles between Graham, Price, Katz & Zeller. Especially when Crawford has to break them up. Price twins please.

Will’s recreation of the murders shows how he’s traumatized. This is why Hannibal is drawn to Graham. How long can he play with his prey before granting death or a complete nervous breakdown claims him?

The bad: Franklin being clingy and revealing their professional relationship. Especially after Dr. Lecter subtly warned him to keep silent. Franklin is desperately seeking to worship Hannibal.

The ugly: Crawford’s guilt over Miriam Lass is the driving force behind him pushing Graham. Will in turn doesn’t want to disappoint his mentor and father figure.
