Hannibal’s ‘Amuse-Bouche’ was directed by Michael Rymer. Writer was Jim Danger Gray.

Comatose Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl) survived the attack that took her mother. Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) arrived at the residence as it was happening. Graham was forced to pull the trigger. People are concerned since he emptied his gun. He and Lecter appointed themselves Abigail’s surrogate fathers. And swap vigils at her bedside.

The FBI found Hobbs’ cabin in the woods. Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) accompanies Graham. Jack suspects Abigail was Daddy’s accomplice. He taught her how to hunt. Perhaps she was the bait to lure in those unfortunate girls. While onsite, Graham discovers someone else beat them to the punch.

Fredricka “Freddie” Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) smelled blood in the water. She runs the true-crime blog Tattle Crime. Her reputation and style leaves a bad taste in the mouth. She doesn’t let the truth get in the way of a great story. She goes to crime scenes and pretends to be a friend or family member of the victim(s). Chatting up police for material and taking photos with a hidden camera.

She took pictures at Hobbs’ cabin and posted them online for her latest exclusive. Catching the Minnesota Shrike aka Garrett Jacob Hobbs (Vladimir Cubrt) garners Graham his reactivation for field work. Dr. Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) asks if that is what he wants. Crawford can’t wait to have his best man pounding the pavement.

Alana suggests Lecter can be his safety net. Will reluctantly agrees. Soon another perp shows up on Crawford’s radar. Pharmacist Eldon Stammets (Aidan Devine) has a strange way of helping people connect. He plants them in the ground. He induces coma via diabetic ketoacidosis in his victims.

While on duty, he switches medication for diabetic patients getting prescription refills. He uses their bodies as fertilizer for his mushroom garden. Graham is haunted by hallucinations of Garrett Jacob Hobbs. Lector chalks it up to stress brought on by his first kill.

Lounds tries to deceive Hannibal. She secretly tapes Will’s first session. Her ploy of looking for a psychiatrist fails. But the good doctor grants her an interview. She abuses his trust and publishes a damning article about Graham.

Lounds is confronted by Stammets outside her motel. The article tipped him off and allowed him to evade arrest. Stammets goes to the hospital to kidnap Abigail. He intended to plant her. He thought that would allow Graham to understand her.

The good: Each episode is like watching a horror film. Every week they find another way to scare the audience. The raven stag represents the unknown copycat. LOVE the sets especially Hannibal’s office. The brief glimpse of his dining room wasn’t enough. Will we see the rest of his home?

The bad: Freddie Lounds. You didn’t like her because she tampered with crime scenes. She topped your hate list after her character assassination of Will.

The ugly: Brian Zeller gave Lounds information. When will Crawford find out?
